A mostly great event, but.....
Well, I did enjoy this event. Good location, pretty good course I really enjoyed the running on the beach portion. Seemed nicely organized. All in all pretty great aside from one small aspect that disappointed me. This was most likely not actually a 5 or 10k race. I do not believe the distance was even near correct. I crossed the finish line, my time was great, too good, it even felt short.. I asked the person at the time booth if the time was accurate they assured me it was, then I remembered I had my gps on my running app recording so I checked it. The 5k course I ran was 2.5 miles. I'm not the most knowledgeable on such things but I don't believe 2.5 miles is equivalent to 5 kilometers. I do not believe this is the first time this has happened either, I checked the webpage to clarify whether this was just a "fun run" or some unofficial social club participation trophy event and there was nothing indicating it was anything other than a 5 and 10k. As a host charging people money to participate I kinda feel as though you should atleast be able to measure the course accurately. This is the 5th event I've attended this year by this host and now not only are all my previous times now irrelevant but I feel required to babysit and further inquire about each race I do moving forward. I'm hoping that I'm somehow mistaken and this is not/ has not been the standard.
