EVENT POSTPONED, PLEASE READ MESSAGE BELOW! NEW DATE WILL BE NOVEMBER 7, 2020
The Portland Chamber of Commerce has been monitoring the announcements and directions provided by Federal, State and Local government officials and entities regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Last night the City of Portland issued a Declaration of Local Disaster and Public Health Emergency. To help prevent community spread, the declaration restricts occupancy in all establishments to limit exposure opportunities and to curtail practices that could promote viral transfer of COVID-19. The Mayor and Council will re-evaluate the situation on May 19, 2020. The provisions in the Declaration and extended time-frame are based on guidance from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for public gatherings. Three provisions are currently outlined in the Declaration: 1. Requirement for groups to limit attendance at gatherings to fifty (50) people in a single area, indoor or outdoor. This requirement does not apply to schools, places of worship, office space, hotels, residential buildings, grocery stores, restaurants, or other retail establishments. 2. Recommendation to limit attendance at gatherings with at-risk populations to ten (10) people in a single area. At-risk population includes individuals who are 60 years old or older and/or who have health conditions such as heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, cancer, or weakened immune systems. 3. The City recommends that restaurants and other similar establishments only offer drive-through, carry out, or delivery – and not allow guests to consume food or beverages inside the establishment. Based on this proclamation, the Portland Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors has decided that Windfest 2020 will be postponed until the first weekend in November. We do have confirmation that Stoney LaRue will still be our Friday night headliner. We are working to confirm all other entertainment at this time. Additionally, we have decided to postpone all Chamber functions until the May 19th date to slow the progression of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Chamber staff is working to put a plan in place that will allow for virtual networking with a series of web events. We will continue to closely monitor the situation surrounding COVID-19.
